Pony Pull 2004 was a rousing success. 'Pulling Together to Help the Disabled' was the theme of the Beyond the Boundaries at Joe’s Lodge, Inc. pony pull benefit held at Ken’s Riverside in Shiocton on Sat. Sept 11th. There was a good turn out for the pull itself. It was a perfect day to sit in the shade and watch the ponies put on a great show.
Chris Sigl won in the 53 inch pony class, Donnie Barclay the 50 inch class and the small 47 inch class was won by Gary Tank.
There were 230 prizes awarded in the main raffle, 8 individual raffle prizes and 3 50/50 drawings throughout the day. Darrell Greil and family & friends kept us all fed. Music was provided by the band "True Grit.” Back in the 50’s this band performed at Andy Rueden’s Bop Barn located just north of Seymour. It was kind of reunion of sorts for those who go back as far as the 50’s. The music attracted those of all ages, though, with young and old getting out to dance.
Beyond the Boundaries at Joe’s Lodge, Inc. wishes to thank the local communities for their continued support and especially each year as they come together at this our biggest fund raiser. We are pleased to announce that once again it was a huge success.
Many of the funds from this event are used to support the Special Hunt which starts October 2nd and goes through October 10th. The hunt is sponsored by the DNR and hosted by BTB at Joe's Lodge. Many volunteers work together throughout the year to make the Special Hunt and other outdoor activities happen for the disabled. This year we have 34 hunters registered and 11 landowners in the area donating the use of their land.
