Beyond the Boundaries
At Joe's Lodge, Inc.
Frederick “Fritz” Rohloff died on April 29, 2001.  He met Ed Gritt
while they were both going back and forth to the VA clinic.  Fritz had
rheumatoid arthritis but even when in a wheelchair he couldn’t sit
still.  He was out at the Gritt farm for a pony pull when his son Bill left
him for a short time for, in Bill’s words, a porta potty break.  When
Bill came back his dad was no longer at the top of the hill where he
left him but there was a big crowd gathered at the bottom of the hill.
It seems Fritz had wheeled himself down the hill but didn’t quite make
the turn at the bottom and where he landed is where the crowd had
gathered.  He loved to hunt and one day he didn’t want to wait for his
sons who were at work so he drove out to Joe’s Lodge by himself
even though he couldn’t see well enough to drive.  Ed and Ed the III
made sure he got home safely.  He worked as a machinist and besides
hunting he spent his time fishing and he loved to cook.
